I just need it to be good enough for moderately high bitrate playback and such, Top-of-the-line read/write performance, be it SSD or HDD. She doesn't like having more than one tab open at a time on her Internet browser as it is, so RAM/CPU cores/clock speed is negotiable. I want this machine to last as long as possible, and even though overclocking may not decrease overall lifespan that much, it's still not a risk I'm willing to take.

Gaming. The only games being played on the machine are going to be Facebook games. Relatively quiet noise profile, I don't need it to be whisper-quiet, but it would be kind of hard to fall asleep with a jet engine in your room.

Small form factor, (mITX, mATX) so that she can carry it around to places she goes much easier than a full tower build. Have enough storage space to store a lot of pictures, videos and other assorted media. Play DVDs, preferably with an internal drive because she hates excessive cables. I have extra peripherals lying around I can let her use. 1080p(60?) streaming via YouTube, Netflix, etc. I realize I could probably just buy her a Raspberry Pi or a Chromebook or something along those lines, but I want to get more PC building experience under my belt, as well. I've put together two builds on PC Part Picker, but I'm not sure which would be better. She keeps complaining that her laptop is slow even after a reformat and thermal paste replacement, so I want to suit her up with something that won't slow down for a few years, at least. I'm planning on building a PC for my mother for her birthday, but I'm having trouble picking out what parts I'll need to buy to suit her needs.
